KAI KIM-SUZUKI OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2020
This newsletter was written by Kai Kim-Suzuki, a 13-year-old 8th grader in Manhattan, New York.
This first month was pretty crazy! I believe that I have learned and grown a lot this past month, and have done things I definitely did not think I could do before.
HACKATHON
For this month’s TKS hackathon, my team (team RAMP) and I decided to make a project where we use AI to predict wildfire movement. We made a presentation, 1 pager, and a prototype. We ended up winning the “best AI application” award! Our website for the project is here.
1 PAGERS
I've started writing a couple of 1-pagers. Below is the 1 pager for my team’s AI hackathon project! I am also working on a 1 pager for space. It is called "Space. A short guide to the basics on a single page." I really like 1-pagers, because to me, it pulls in my love for design and writing together in a really clean and short way.
ARTICLES
Let’s just say… I am very excited about space. This month I've also written at the pace of one article a week on it! At first, I wrote a 10-minute long article on the future of space travel and did absolutely everything wrong (the content was pretty good though 😏 ), and as I went, I kept improving! Check out my Medium profile! I just wanted to add that in the first couple of weeks of TKS I thought that writing an article was absolutely crazy and had no idea what to do with myself. Now, I've already written 4.
MEET WITH A CEO
As an extra prize for the hackathon win, my team got to meet with Mike Schmidt, the CEO of Dovetale, a startup that streamlines work for companies. We discussed our long term goals, and how we would be able to achieve them. A goal of mine is to work at SpaceX -- he said that in order to do this, I need to actually build something real. So I will!
